Tailings, slope and water decisions on one validated record, from the instrument to the engineer of record.
A mine depends on ground it cannot see. Tailings facilities, pit slopes and water systems are instrumented, but the readings sit in separate loggers and spreadsheets and reach the engineer of record once a month. In between, the site relies on threshold alarms. They trip on a single bad reading and are ignored by the third time. Under GISTM the owner has to show that each facility is performing as designed. Under production pressure the same owner needs to keep depositing and keep mining under the slope.
The Insight Platform takes every reading from every instrument on site, whatever the vendor, checks it against its history and its neighbours, and writes it to a permanent record. The site team, the engineer of record and the independent reviewer read the same record. Terra Safe, our geotechnical product on the platform, watches the rate of change as well as the level, so accelerating movement or rising pore pressure raises an alert while there is still time to act. A failing sensor is flagged before it corrupts a stability model. Water readings sit alongside the geotechnical data, because on a tailings facility they are part of the same question.
The platform is in service on tailings facilities and pit slopes in Southern Africa and South America. That includes a hydraulically dewatered stacking facility monitored to its engineer of record's requirements under GISTM. It is built on our own microservices architecture, hosted on a secure cloud, and connects to the instruments, loggers and satellite feeds already on site. Trigger action response plans only work when the whole team trusts the readings. With that in place, the decision to keep depositing, restrict access or step down a slope can be made on evidence.
