Simon Barry

Mining and Risk

Simon has an MSc in Risk Management and is a Specialist of the Institute of Risk Management. He has worked principally in Mining across Africa in the last 15 years, where he quantifies the whole issue in the context of the target organisation to achieve the effect needed by the operation.  

He has written a paper on Risk in Mining for SAIMM and several articles for Mining Review Africa on the Risk based approach, data management and ESG. He is known in water risk and ESG circles from Canada to Southern Africa. 

Simon’s military career saw him spend much time gathering information to support operations and crisis management, often at short notice. He has significant experience across a variety of roles and working in multinational and multicultural groupings.
